“I am inspired by the hard work, dedication, boundless energy and creativity of my students”
Sibbi Bernhardsson
Sibbi is devilishly serious in all of his photos although he has an incredible sense of humor, observation, and style that is completely unique and authentic to all he shares with us onstage and off. Sibbi and I got to know each other playing basketball deep into the night against each other along with the Vamos boys (not telling who won!) and it has been a great gift in my life to explore our careers as second violinists together - the pros and cons, ups and downs - of creating a life in chamber music and balancing an amazing family life. A Grammy-Award winning violinist who grew up in Iceland and has performed on the worlds biggest stages AND the worlds biggest concert venues (with Bjork!), Sibbi is on the faculty at Oberlin College and his life-long passion for teaching and mentoring is getting his full attention alongside creating a performing life for himself after his retirement from the Pacifica Quartet. We hatched the idea for exploring a recorded conversation over a Texas Breakfast at Rudy’s BBQ in Austin, TX and can’t wait to get this one recorded and wrapped of two guys with hard to spell last names!
