“We came all this way to explore the Moon, and the most important thing is that we discovered the Earth”
William “Bill” Anders
Bill Anders is famous for being one of the first three persons to leave low Earth orbit and travel to the Moon in Apollo 8 and photographing the iconic image, Earthrise, that forever change the way we view our world and universe. Bill also served as U.S. Ambassador to Norway under President Gerald Ford and one of the purest fighter pilots the globe has ever seen. Having served as the first chairman of the newly established Nuclear Regulatory Commission under President Ford, Bill moved into the private sector and served in the C-Suites of General Electric, Textron, and retired after serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Dynamics through one of it’s most profitable periods. Bill is dedicated to supporting educational and environmental issues through the William A. Anders Foundation and is husband to founding President of the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival, his amazing wife Valerie Hoard Anders. We explore his life, conquering fear, achieving goals, and his own shift and growth from being in space. A grumpy ol’ curmudgeon, Bill and I have always connected over fiddling and country music. He tries to seduce me with stories that are all over the internet and instead I was able to get him to explore new territory, cannot wait for you to listen.
